The Catch (powered by Verizon) 2024 Champions

Rising Sons had a great weekend down in Ft. Lauderdale for Sportfishing Championship's The Catch powered by Verizon. The team spent Friday pre-fishing, which mostly consisted of learning the ins and outs of kite fishing and getting used to working with the amazing Team Frigate. Friday was pretty slow for the team only catching one small blackfin, but Jaselyn told everyone through her years of dancing that she always had a "crappy rehearsal," before a "10/10 final performance."

The next day the team was joined by New Orleans Saints running back, Alvin Kamara and Miami Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert. The team prepped and took off for the shotgun start and hurried to their spot. shortly afterf baits were put in the water, Kamara hooks up to a mahi and catches his first fish offshore. After 10 more minutes of baits being out Mostert hooks up to his first sailfish. Jaselyn coached him through and he fought the sail like a pro. After watching both of these NFL stars fight their first fish offshore, the team knew they were in good hands and had potential to compete with the others. Team Quantified caught up to team Rising Sons and they dropped down to second place. The team was hoping for a miracle and just then two sailfish get hooked up. Jaselyn coaches both Kamara and Mostert through navigating a double hookup. Then Toby gets hooked up on a third fish. The cockpit showed nothing less of chaos but the team worked diligently to get in each fish. Ian Webber, captain of the Frigate, chased after Kamara and Berthelot's fish, before landing Mostert's sailfish. The team had landed all three fish and had accomplished something most other teams couldn't have. Jaselyn reported "that was my first ever triple hookup we have ever landed, and the fact we did it with two unexperienced anglers is truly something that should be recognized." The rest of the day was pretty slow for everyone off of the Southeast Florida Coast, but the team waited for something more to secure their Champion spot. Luckily they held on to the 1st place spot and were able to become the 2024 Champions of The Catch. They ran in and celebrated and were able to donate $100,000 to the Coast Guard Foundation donated by Shane Guidry. Check out some content below to see how the weekend went for the team.
