About Us
We are Team Rising Son's, a fishing team out of Orange Beach, Alabama that fishes the gulf circuit including Sportfishing Championship. We fish on a 58 foot Viking with a recent repower in 2023. We started off as a family fishing for fun and have evolved into a dedicated and passionate team. It takes everyone to build a team to be successful in the Gulf, even all of our followers. None of this would be possible without the amazing support we get around the Nation. Here's a little bit more about us individually who make up Team Rising Son's.
Meet Toby, the jack of all trades on team Rising Sons. He started blue water fishing in the early 2000s, and then purchased the Rising Sons in 2010. After mainly tuna fishing, he decided to try his luck at tournament fishing in 2013. That year the team was able to break the Blue Marlin Alabama State record which was in place for 24 years with a 789 pound blue marlin. Even though it only lasted an hour and forty five minutes before the record was broken again it was some of the best minutes of his fishing career. Almost 10 years later he was able to get his turn in the chair against a 785-pound Blue marlin to win the Mobile big game Labor Day tournament and 2022 Mongo Offshore Challenge. He has achieved many accomplishments, but his biggest is being able to watch his daughter win countless tournaments in a male dominated sport.
Meet Jaselyn, Rising Sons' main angler and Owner. She started when she was 11 years old riding alongside her dad watching other anglers through the years. She was able to catch her first blue marlin when she was 13 and since then she has fallen in love with the sport. Since then she has released over 50 billfish in her career. In 2022, she won fan-vote angler of the year in Sportfishing Championship. In 2023, she became Texas Offshore Grand Champion at the Texas International Fishing Tournament by releasing 2 blue marlin and having more release points than any other angler in the tournament. She loves being on the water and can't wait to see what this next year will bring for her team. She has a quote that she lives by, which is "changing the meaning of fishing like a girl one fish at a time."
Meet Cricket, the Captain of Rising Son's. He started fishing when he was in Elementary School with his Uncle and Dad. He started working on a charter boat in high school and joined the Coast Guard after graduating. After 25 years, he went to Destin and learned from some of the top captains to learn as much as possible before jumping into the industry. Around 1998-99 he ran a couple boats tournament and Cobia fishing. His first real gig was around 2000, and he ran a 55' Hatteras and took off from there. Some of his biggest accomplishments are breaking the Mississippi state record in 1969 with a 205 lb. yellowfin tuna in MGCBC, Catching the biggest Cobia ever tagged and released and recaptured. He was also the captain that tagged the most fish the first year of IGFA releasing billfish tags. Lastly, winning the 2022 Mongo with Team Rising Sons. He loves working with the Rising Sons team because no matter the trip they always have good time.
